IHS' The Great Gatsby

I won a Director's Choice Award for this project, in which I directed and adapted a production of The Great Gatsby. Unsatisfied with Levy’s stage adaptation and Luhrmann’s film adaptation, I combined Simon Levy’s script with F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel to create my own version. While I was originally co-directing with Matteo Signorelli, he had to step into the role of Gatsby due to a last-minute casting emergency—an adjustment he handled wonderfully.

I organized auditions, casting, and regular rehearsals, delegating costuming and music to cast members Beth Motta and Rhyder Harris. I also designed the lighting and set, working closely with a tech crew to bring the production to life. After two months of hard work, we successfully staged the play for the school, where it was well received. Student leadership took inspiration from the show, theming a school dance after it.
